Happy Pancake Day

WHAT?
A day for Pancakes... that isn't led by IHOP? What is this?
Apparently, in Britain, Ireland, and Australia, pancakes are traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day.

Pancake Day is celebrated on the last day before Lent. Lent is a time of abstinence. So Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge yourself, and to use up the foods that aren't allowed during Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.

Not only are pancakes eaten on Pancake Day, but people also have pancake races. Traditionally pancakes would be held on a frying pan and tossed as they raced to the finish line.

Tonight we will make some delicious pancakes, can't wait!
