Practical information:
Tipping: As a general rule, the amount is 5% of the total bill.
Clothing: French attire is dressier than American. Well that's an understatement, Paris is a fashion capital of the world, and the French are notoriously fashionable. With that said, athletic clothes are unacceptable. Sneakers are not usually worn by adults, if so, worn during the day. Nice jeans are acceptable; some higher-end restaurants may have dress code.

Lifestyle: Paris was made for wandering, the French have even coined a word for the wanderer, le flâneur.

While wandering, Have to pee? (cough*emily*cough): There are public restrooms scattered about Paris, however, they are not always free. They are commonly located in gardens. If you can find a big department store, that's your best bet. Additionally, many restrooms are unisex.

Transportation: Sick of being a flâneur? Take the metro! Out past 1? Expect to take a very expensive taxi.

Café Etiquette: Café's have three different of prices: one for standing, one for sitting indoor, and most expensively, sitting outside.

Dinner Etiquette: Don't come before 8. Don't expect to be done within an hour. Customization? don't do it. Want water? Ask for it. If you don't want bottled, Just ask for, "une carafe de l'eau."

Attractions: Best time to visit Notre Dame: Morning: fewer

queues and sun coming through stain-glass windows (missing sunset though)
